As part of the Diversity and Inclusion in the Information Sciences Speaker Series, the DWG presents #DRAGVSAI!

#DRAGVSAI is a hands-on workshop that explores identity, gender presentation, face surveillance, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic harms. With materials developed by the Algorithmic Justice League, facilitated by MI students, and supported by the creative splendour of makeup artist and Drag Queen Jayjay Kings, learn about the mechanics behind facial recognition technologies, the risk of their unchecked use and abuse, and how to take collective action against face surveillance. We’ll be using makeup, stickers, or other objects to change our appearance - get ready to drag the cistem! 

Jayjay Kings is a self-taught makeup artist turned drag queen with international recognition for his avant garde, artistic and untraditional style. Jayjay Kings realized at an early age the importance of his voice, sharing a message of Diversity, Equality, and Acceptance as a foundation, and profits of his DragQueenMerch.com benefiting LGBQT2S+ initiatives.
